Two Ways to Pray and Engage at Summit

Today I wanted to give you two different ways that you can actively engage with us as a church. We have two challenges that you may be a part of helping in.

Here is the first one… we’ve been growing with people.

If you are a regular attender you have noticed it. Outside of our summertime, we have consistently been at or above 80% in our Sunday services. We’ve felt it in our sanctuary and we’ve really felt it in our children’s ministry. I am thankful that people have come and found Summit as a place where they can meet Jesus and find us as a place where He steps into our messy places. We have found His Word as true and speaks directly to us. We have been growing as a people that pray for one another. It is a special work that God is doing. It’s encouraging, isn’t it!

As an elder team and staff we have been praying about what to do about our near-full services. One option we have prayed over, thought on, met on, waited on and tentatively begun was adding a third service. As of last week, though, we came to the conclusion that He was not leading us to do that (at least as of right now).

So, what will we do? We are, once again, pursuing another location that would allow us to gather, grow and remain at two services. We semi-regularly push the door again to see if the Lord may be opening that door. And so far, for over seven years now, He has not done so. But… perhaps this time He will. We have brought on a new commercial real estate agent. And we are fervently praying specifically for God to answer!

This is where you come in alongside us. We pray! Would you pray with us? Actively pray? We desire to see how the Lord will answer with the location and funding needed to make a move to a larger facility.

Here is a second challenge we have… we need more people to serve in ministry.

We feel the need for more volunteers serving on Sunday’s and other ministries that we are committed to. Our primary ministries on Sunday’s need an influx of volunteers (Prayer, Children’s, Hospitality, Security, Tech). And then there are other ministries in the week that need folks too (Youth, Meal Team, Straight Ahead, Fostering).

It’s the summer and with it brings transitions for many. Military families move out and others move in, it’s that time of year. So, it is a time when we feel the need for people to engage. Can you help?

To help you connect, this Sunday, we have a, “Find Your Place Sunday” happening. This is an opportunity to hear about the ministries and ask your questions about various ministries and make a prayerful decision to engage in a ministry. We want to make it easy for you to connect. We want to help you take the next step. After each service, we will have people at tables ready to help you and share with you about their ministry.

I really hope you will pray and connect in a ministry. There are so many blessings that come when we serve and when we pray. I am looking forward to watching the Lord move in us as we follow His leading.

I am looking forward to seeing you Sunday.

Held By His Abundant Grace,
 Pastor John
