God’s Cloud Is Moving, So We’ll Follow Him

One of my favorite stories in the book of Numbers is found in Numbers 9:15 – 23. God would guide His people, the Israelites, through the desert with a pillar of cloud by day and a fire by night over the tabernacle. When the cloud settled in place they would set up camp, but when the cloud moved they would follow Him where He led them. Verses 22-23 says this:
“Whether it was two days, a month, or longer, the Israelites camped and did not set out as long as the cloud stayed over the tabernacle. But when it was lifted, they set out. They camped at the LORD’s command, and they set out at the LORD’s command. They carried out the LORD’s requirement according to His command…”

They waited for the Lord to move out. As long as He had them in that particular place, they settled in and waited for Him. That’s a great picture for us as well.

We have been in the same location as a church for nine years now. We have been prayerfully waiting for Him to lead us to a new location. Church, God’s cloud is seemingly moving and we’re following!

I communicated recently that we had submitted a “Letter of Intent” (LOI) for a new property that is 2.5 miles south from where we currently are. The owner has agreed to the proposal and we are in the process of lining up everything to make that move possible now.

This 7,500sf of open space (5061 N Rainbow) will need to be built out to suit our church. It will provide approximately 100 more seats in the worship center, as well as 5 to 6 kids rooms, a prayer room, a multipurpose room for youth and larger meetings, and more! It will take about 4 to 6+ months to buildout.

We will have many more details to share soon. But, what I don’t want to miss is the God story here. Consider this (watch the timeline carefully here!):
…Just a few weeks ago we were prayerfully considering moving to three services because we have had a number of new folks joining our church family (what a blessing!).
…After going back-and-forth on a decision for the three services we landed at a, “No, not right now” decision. We didn’t feel like going to three services was best.
…We communicated that to you and asked you to pray.
…We asked for you to pray with us an audacious prayer for a new location… and to have it by the beginning of the new year! [That is without having any locations to pick from, no other options]
…Then, within days, this current property popped up on our radar…

You see where this is going… Needless to say, it seems to us that the “cloud” is moving! (There are even more ways where we have seen God moving and answering but space limits me to write about it all!)

So we are praying and watching. But it surely seems as though He is moving us.

We will look to raise additional funds for the buildout (about $300K). That’s a specific way to pray next.

We will continue to share more details as this comes together. In the meantime… pray with us! Let’s watch what He does. We are in His hands – and there truly is no better place to be than that!

More to come…

Held By His Abundant Grace,

Pastor John
