Happy New Year, church!

Happy New Year’s Summit! We turned the calendar into a new year! That is a gift from the Lord. It seems strange to me that in many ways nothing changed but the day, and yet if feels like a fresh start in many ways. I am eager for the year ahead to grow closer to Jesus! How about you?

I spent a little bit of time to list out ways that I saw the Lord work this past year for us as a church. We were still registering for services last year, we had our annual church meeting online and we were navigating in significant ways the covid pandemic. (I know we still are in some ways still navigating it, but it’s less than a year ago!)

Even with the challenges of this past year we saw many wonderful gifts of the Lord to us. For instance, we brought on Jeremy Cooper as our youth pastor. We saw a new Spanish ministry begin. We hosted a packed out Praying Life seminar. There were numerous retreats, small groups, baptisms, and ministries that took place. There was greater personal discipleship. It really was a wonderful year in many ways for us as a church. God abundantly blessed us. And thank you for being a part of it!

As I look into the coming weeks I am looking forward to it… maybe even a little giddy. Here are a few of the ways we get to walk together as we walk with Jesus:

·        (Begins January 9th) New sermon series: Traditionalism Or Truth, Why Genesis 1 – 3 is the foundation of Christianity.
·        (January 9th) Annual Church Meeting – and dinner together!
·        (Begins January 16th) New Small Groups
·        (January 22nd) Women’s workshop: The Pervasive Problem of Mom Guilt
·        (January 30th) Discover Summit Class and lunch
·        (February 4th-6th) Youth Winter Camp
·        And a number of other connecting points…

Where can you see yourself? There is something for each of you here. From growing in God’s Word to making friends and developing meaningful relationships. How about help for all you mom’s that struggle with “mom guilt”? That’s practical! Maybe you aren’t feeling too connected with the those at Summit, if so, perhaps the Discover Summit and/or the annual church meeting may be a practical next step for you. There are many ways to engage. And please do – we need you, we need each other (I really believe that!).

With gratitude I look back over the past year, even the struggles can draw us to the Lord. And I now look forward to the coming days ahead to get to know Jesus more. And I hope to do that with you. We are needy, and we are needed.

In His Grip,
Pastor John
