The Annual Meeting is coming!
Merry Christmas Church!
As I think of our Christmas celebrations I realize that we will all have various ways that the Lord impresses His great gift of the Son to us. There are many ways for us to think on Christmas, and there isn’t really one way to do it that is the “right way”. There are some who will be working Christmas, some who have family in town, and some who will be traveling to family and friends out of town. Each of us will be in different places and needing to trust the Lord for what He has for us in the moment. Let me encourage you to not compare your situation to someone else’s but rather to trust yourself to the Lord who knows your situation and will be with you. Whatever this Christmas has you doing, bring the Lord into it. Talk to Him. Share your heart with Him. Look for a small handful of ways that you can thank Him. There is a lot of pressure we can put on ourselves to have the “best Christmas ever” but if we simply do nothing more or less than what He has for us it’ll take a lot of pressure off.
I do want to share with you a number of updates about things happening over the next few weeks so you are aware.
Tomorrow is our Christmas services (normal times) and tonight is our Spanish Christmas service at 6:30. I hope that you can attend one of those this weekend.
On Christmas Eve we are releasing a video devotional (with a downloadable devotional for you and your family) to be able to watch sometime on Christmas Eve or Christmas day. It is aimed to encourage you to find hope amidst a weary world!
Important: You need to know this too, there are no services on Sunday the 26th after Christmas! As an elder team, we considered our church family and knowing where our folks were at and decided to give the volunteers and staff that day off after Christmas. It means the worship team doesn’t need to come in at 7 am and be there all day. We recognize too that many will be out of town (including myself – as we will be as a family in New Jersey this year. First time with the grandkids for Christmas!) and we wanted to bless those who regularly serve with time off for their families.
We will be back in full swing on January 2nd for our two regular services. They will be our annual celebration services – a specific time when we give thanks to God for His abundant blessings and to look forward to what He will do in the coming year. I surely hope you can join us for one of those services.
Finally, we will be having our Annual Church Meeting on Sunday the 9th at 4 pm at church where we will hear more of the past year and look to be grounded in what the Lord has for us as a church into the new year. We will also approve the new budget and we are also looking to bring back onto the elder team Dudley Dinsmore. (Details below.) After our meeting we will share in a big meal too – we have our favorite taco truck coming to enjoy all together. This is going to be good!
I hope you will make it a priority to engage with the church family over the next few weeks. We are loving what God is doing and look forward to walking with Him in the steps ahead.
Words cannot express how much I love you church! I thank God for you and how we are growing toward Him, one step at a time.
In His Grip,
Pastor John
P.S. Don’t forget to pray for the ministries that we are doing outreach with. We are giving to both Straight Ahead ministry as well as Not Forgotten. Two wonderful ministries we count as a privilege to be a part of. We are about half way to the goal of $4,000 for these ministries. If you would like to contribute the details can be found here.
