Praying Church Seminar

I really enjoy hosting and leading our Discover Summit gatherings. We get to talk about our church’s heart: what moves us, why we are a church. And we get to talk about something very dear to my heart that we are growing in as a church – becoming more and more dependent upon the Spirit of God in our lives and ministry. That is important enough to us that we have placed this in the center of our ministry.

If you have been around Summit for the last little bit you have picked up on ways we are changing and growing – we are very desirous of being active in prayer. You have noticed a new type of group called a “prayer cohort” (a small group aimed to encourage your prayer life because we often feel like prayer is so difficult and kind of “floaty”). We have begun a Prayer Team on Sundays where there are people actively praying every service for us. We have grown in prayer in all of our ministries. Prayer is a place where we actively walk with the Lord in our lives, it’s where we stop to listen and watch Him lead us. It is truly a vital part of our Christian walk and ministry.

We wanted to take another important step in “equipping the saints for ministry (Eph. 4:12)” to grow in our prayer lives as individuals and as a church all together. In just a few days (September 15-16) we will be hosting a seminar over a Friday night (6-9) and Saturday morning (8-12) aimed at helping us practically grow in our relationship with Jesus! Could you use that? I know I want that.

As you may notice, we do not do many “extra” events as a church – and that is intentional. We know your time is limited and important so we try and be very purposeful in what we ask you to be a part of. (Why we say: church; a small group; and a ministry/mission are the key ingredients.) This is one of those very important events as a church I am praying you will be a part of!

I know it will require some work on your part to get there – everything from getting off work early, kid pieces, tiredness, and a host of other possible barriers. But, I believe it’ll be worth your effort. I remember how helpful the Praying Life seminar was two years ago - I think this, too, will be equally impactful.

Nothing On My Own,

 Pastor John
